ABSTRACT
In 1935, two years after Hitler had become Chancellor of Germany, the Seventh Congress of the Comintern announced the formation of a Popular Front against fascism. Confronted by the spread of fascism, the USSR could not remain isolated, and had already joined the League of Nations the year before the Congress.
