ABSTRACT
Authorship. The play is an adaptation o f Shakespeare’s The Tempest made by D. and Sir William Davenant. D .’s Preface credits Davenant with devising the addition o f a man who had never seen a woman, and comic dialogue for the sailors. The Prologue and Epilogue are no doubt by D.; the authorship o f the Songs is uncertain.
