ABSTRACT
Just at the time when George William had gone to Prussia to obtain his investiture from Poland as Duke of Prussia, his wife C harlotte of the Palatinate, the sister of the W inter King, gave birth to her first son Frederick William. The first Christian name was given in honour of the W inter King, the second in honour of the child’s father. The Electress’s m other in turn was a daughter of William of Orange.
