ABSTRACT

While the Pervane was with Abaqa, he complained to him about the ilkhan's brother, Ajay, who, he said, threatened his life. He obtained a promise that Ajay and Samaghar would be replaced by Tuqu bitikgi noyan.2A The promise however was not fulfilled, and the Pervane feared that Ajay had heard, and was preparing vengeance. So he sent an appeal to Baybars, promising to become his vassal if the sultan would undertake a campaign to rid him of Ajay and Samaghar; but, when Baybars replied and laid down his conditions, Ajay and Samaghar had in fact been recalled. This ended negotiations for the time being, at the end of 672/spring 1274.
