ABSTRACT
Mention has already been made of the effect on British drama of Ibsen and Chekhov, and in particular their effect on the work of Shaw. The first two decades of the twentieth century saw a vogue for verse drama, though most of the works written as a result of this change in fashion are no longer known or performed. T. S. Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral is one exception.
