ABSTRACT
Practical criticism is sometimes known as Comment and Appreciation. It consists of a short passage from a poem, or a complete short poem, or fairly brief extracts from a novel or play. Usually the extracts are ‘unseen’, meaning that the candidate will not have previously seen that extract or read it before.
