ABSTRACT
The terms and conditions or employment tor building trade operatives agreed to over the years by tradition and negotiation between employers (contractors) and unions will form the basis of the total labour cost contained in every building contract. It is therefore essential that the estimator possesses a thorough and up-to-date working knowledge of these terms and conditions and can translate the contractors' obligations to his workforce in terms of the cost involved.
