ABSTRACT
One of the main changes that has affected the French economy (and French society) since the middle of the twentieth century is the socio-demographic evolution of the country. Not only has the population increased significantly, but its structure and dynamics are having a considerable impact on some of the most crucial aspects of the economy, from the characteristics of the labour force to those of household consumption and income distribution.
