What is translation competence?

This book asks a number of questions about translation, and tries to answer them in ways that relate to current key issues in applied linguis­ tics. The special feature of this book is that it deals with translation into the second language, an area largely ignored by applied linguistics in general and by the literature of translation studies in particular.
