ABSTRACT
Most plants are gregarious, growing together in groups of varying size. This is because most are fixed in the soil and, in a variety of ways (by seed, vegetative reproduction from fragments, by runners, bulbs, corms, etc.), produce offspring which establish in the vicinity of the parent. This process leads to plant growth in the mass or simply vegetation.
