ABSTRACT
Our increasing ability to observe, model and understand the Earth’s climate is allowing us to predict that climate for several months in the future. It is also suggesting that human activities are changing the climate on a world-wide scale and in ways which may have adverse impacts for the planet. This concern is encouraging us to explore ways of estimating climatic conditions decades, or even centuries, into the future.
