ABSTRACT
The first half of the 1990s was a tumultuous period in the history of the Palestinians, the most dramatic since 1967. The Kuwayt crisis brought misery for many Palestinians who worked in the Gulf states: the intifāḍa brought much suffering to the peoples of the West Bank and especially Gaza; and the Israel—PLO accord of 1993 provoked both new hopes and bitter animosities.
