ABSTRACT
Access platforms can be categorised into four main types:
Platforms on scaffolding tied to the face of a building.
Platforms hanging on wire ropes down the face of a building.
Broad-area platforms either built up from the floor or hanging from the roof to service a ceiling or the roof.
Moveable gangways, towers and masts.
These four main types can be further subdivided. Each sub-type has special advantages or disadvantages; economy or high cost; simplicity or impracticability.
