ABSTRACT
More work has probably been published on labour migration in capitalist societies than on any other form of human migration. The aim is to understand the factors that encourage and discourage the movement of economically active people between countries and broad regions within countries. This concern with labour migration is not surprising, as persistent inequalities in the distribution of unemployment are indicative of imperfections in the labour market.
