ABSTRACT
In the chapters covering timber and steel, the elastic method of structural design has been used. In this chapter and the one on masonry, the limit state method is used. The two methods were discussed in section 1.3, and it is advisable to refer to that section and also to section 8.5 on the structural design of masonry.
