ABSTRACT

Information technology (IT) is the broad term used to cover all aspects of transmitting or manipulating information using some sort of technology. However, in schools the term is usually restricted to using microcomputers. Most, if not all, schools are now equipped with microcomputers of one sort or another. The most common form of arrangement is to find the majority of the computers situated in one room, the IT room, with a few computers in key teaching rooms. The computers in the IT room are often linked together or networked so that information can be centrally stored and retrieved from a central computer called a file server.
