ABSTRACT
Troilus and Criseyde merits further detailed consideration. The outline of the events in Book I has already been given. The essence o f it is the beginning o f Troilus’s love, the beginning o f Criseyde’s favour able response, the consequent improvement in Troilus’s already noble character caused by the hope of successful love.
