A partition is a wall, within a building, which divides the interior space into a series of rooms or areas. Table 5.1 summarises broad categories into which partitions might fall. Usually loadbearing and permanent non-load-bearing partitions are built in situ, whilst demountable and movable partitions are prefabricated in factories and assembled or fitted on the site.
