ABSTRACT

Peace of Luneville ends Austria's participation in the French Revolutionary wars. In the aftermath of the wars Archduke Charles is made President of the Hofkriegsrat and introduces reforms into the army. Charles also persuades the Emperor Francis to create ministers to supervise the different departments of state with these ministers meeting in a cabinet under Francis- the Staats- und Konferenzministerium. In May 1802, the Hungarian Diet meets and there is a confrontation between it and Francis over his demands for men and money. Francis promises never to make peace with France without the Tyrol being reunited with Austria in May 29, 1809. Austria signs the treaty of Reichenbach with Russia and Prussia, and with British agreement in June 27, 1813. In June 9, 1815, Final act of the Congress, Austria regains virtually all of the territory which she has lost in the wars since 1792, the main exception being the Austrian Netherlands.
