This chapter describes and assesses the major sources of information which are available on the activities of the mining, utility and construction industries. At the outset it is important to stress the very diverse nature of these industries and, as a consequence, to note that considerable variations exist in terms of the availability, quality and form of the sources of information which are discussed in this chapter.
