ABSTRACT

Political life and socioeconomic life are closely related. Few, if any, students of politics would doubt, for instance, that social and economic conditions are at the origin of many of the major conflicts which come to be reflected on the political plane. If a nation has profound social or economic cleavages based on class, race or religion, these are expected to find their expression in political life. Thus the complexity of the political problems will be to an important extent the consequence of the complexity of the socioeconomic problems.
