ABSTRACT
Research in health care can occur in any discipline, type of care, and client or patient condi-
tion. That is, a physiotherapist can undertake research, as can a nurse, doctor, occupational
therapist or social worker. The study or project can be related to primary, secondary or
tertiary care. Any type of client or patient condition means research can for example involve
neonates with a specific type of heart defect, or a new type of medication for people with
Alzheimer’s disease.
