ABSTRACT
As noted in Chapter 5, the rate of growth of the Web is phenomenal and is expected to increase at a faster rate as the technology and knowledge of its use spread further geographically and demographically. Developments effecting connectivity to Web servers and the writing of Web pages have made Web publishing substantially easier and within the economic means and technical competency of large numbers of people. Whereas five or six years ago Web publishing was considered a skilled activity that required some training, this is no longer the case to the same degree. in addition, many organizations, businesses, and individuals consider that it is imperative to have an online presence. For individuals this has become increasingly easier as free Web space is often part of the package that subscribers to internet Service Providers are automatically offered. Also, many institutions of higher education offer their students and staff Web space and technical assistance.
