ABSTRACT

Form I is the most common. The perfect tense of Form I is made up of the root, comprising three consonants c1, c2, and c3. Interleaved between the consonants are two vowels v1 and v2.. The sequence is as follows:

c1 + v1 + c2 + v2 + c3

By convention the three consonants, c1, c2, and c3, are respectively represented as f,c, and 1.

f vc 1 v2 1 = (f + v1 + c + v2 + 1)

Unless the verb is in the passive voice (see Passive voice) the first vowel, v1, is always /a/. In contrast, the second vowel, v2, can be /a/, /u/, or /i/:
