ABSTRACT

Advanced problem solvers are able to make a plan and start solving a problem, though they may not always produce a viable solution. They can recognize the type of tools needed to solve a problem such as a diagram, ruler or calculator. They have a few strategies under their belt such as drawing a picture or sim - plifying the problem and can identify the appropriate operation based on the situation in the problem. These problem solvers can also explain how they arrived at their solution by explaining what they did in each step and why they did it.
