ABSTRACT

The Cartoon Movement website is a repository for variety of non-fiction comics, including editorial cartoons, didactic comics, and reportage comic strips. The Nib website proclaims itself to be devoted to 'Political cartoons, comics journalism, humor and non-fiction'. From interactive comics that work well on mobile platforms to long form journalism in graphic novels, it seems reportage comics are here to say. Overlapping with educational comics, nonfiction comics have introduced generations to the realms of history, biography, science, philosophy, mathematics, and nature. Will Eisner was one of the pioneers of the comic book medium, and in producing the weekly Spirit Section newspaper supplement. He left behind instructional comics, for the most part, and begins writing very personal graphic novels, and some memoir comics. Bodell's work demonstrates how memoir in comics form can present inner reality with expressionistic visuals, she drew herself as a fish to portray her scientific curiosity and as a bird to show her aesthetic enjoyment of nature.
