ABSTRACT

The previous two chapters aimed at providing a description of the on-going practices in the organizations participating in this research and the discourses underlying these discursive and material practices. While Chapter 6 aimed to answer the question of how things are organized and managed in those organizations, Chapter 7 sought to answer what discursive resources inform those practices. This chapter, in turn, aims to answer the question of why things are the way they are. In other words, this chapter aims to uncover the conditions of construction of the notion of non-governmental organization (NGO) management by the managers and team leaders participating in this study. In other words, the concern in this chapter is to analyse the power dynamics at work.
