ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents Five Components of Leadership Model. It concentrates on the first four elements of the model: the leader, the followers, the goal, and the environmental context and also goes into detail regarding the ways theorists have historically presented these fundamental elements of the leadership process. Next it focuses on leadership in a global context to examine the way a culture's value and norms affect its views about leadership. It also presents a particular culture and addresses the way the culture views leaders and followers, as well as the way the culture views its moral foundations and the way in which decisions should be made. This part is not intended to be a detailed analysis of the cultures, but rather to illustrate the way in which different cultures may view leadership.
