ABSTRACT
The work of the principal supervising the instructional program is one in which there are many complexities. The press for accountability at the hub of the labor of meeting adequate yearly progress and the constant demands of the work outside of the realm of instruction often leaves little time for the work that principals must do to ensure learning for teachers and students. These pressures are perennial, and they will continually present challenges and opportunities for the principal.
