ABSTRACT
Some forms of assessment involve testing several skills at once, working in concert. For this reason, they are also often referred to as “authentic” assessment because, as we know, when interacting with another person in a foreign language, we often use many skills at once. The most common examples of alternative assessment are the portfolio and the project, but you will find several others in this chapter as well.
