♦ Cheerleading A good way to change the pace without stopping class is to have a few cheers or fight songs for each side at interludes within the pro cess. Students who want to be cheerleaders can design special hats or other insignia and write cheers, in which they will lead their sides. (In good weather, the class might go outdoors for this break.)
♦ Theme music/free writing A less energetic break is provided by a period of quiet reflection, possibly accompanied by appropriate music (from the Romantic pe riod, perhaps, or from something else suggesting debate?).
