ABSTRACT
This unit contains the elements of problem solving, communication, and reasoning as set forth in the Standards. However, it particularly exemplifies the idea of connections. Designed to be used by math and science teachers working together or alone, the unit connects math and science in the real world. My Algebra 2 students were surprised by this unit. We reached the topic early in the year, so they did not yet know me well. All the activities were really new to them. Truthfully, their favorite part was thefollow-up activity ofmaking ice cream, but I think many of them liked being able to see the connections involved.
