ABSTRACT

The educational practitioner has now completed an analysis of potential strategies and determined which of those are most applicable for the given situation. By rank-ordering possible techniques, perhaps assisted by establishing a matrix, selection of one or more is enhanced. It may better serve the confines of a particular set of circumstances to favor a combination of tech niques. This approach allows for more extensive answers and more precise information once the data are actually collected. A note of caution about the use of several instruments, “Measures drawn from different data sources are not always congruent, so it may not be possible to draw desired compar isons” (Steecher, 1992, p. 79). Regardless of whether one or several strategies are chosen, an administrator should be able to collect needed information from a variety of sources utiliz ing a variety of methodologies. “They also must have the knowledge and skills required to direct others to seek out information” (Thomson, 1983, pp. 2-12).
