ABSTRACT

The Present Progressive The present progressive tense describes ongoing actions taking place in present time: “Dad is walking to the store.” In this sentence, is walking is an example of the present progressive tense; it describes an ongoing action happening at the time of the statement. To form the present progressive tense, combine a present form of the verb be (am, is, or are depending on the style of the narration and the number of subjects) with the -ing form of a verb.
