ABSTRACT
Point out to students that these sentences are all statements, so each needs a period at the end. Write a period at the end of each statement. Read the sentences aloud and point out how your voice doesn’t go up as it does when you ask a question; it stays matter-of-fact. When reading these types of sentences aloud, students should not raise their voices at the end. Read a couple of the sample sentences aloud as a group.
