ABSTRACT

The Occupational/Physical Therapist, the educational specialist assists in planning, developing, implementing, and/or following up on interventions, programs, and/or services to students. Manages/supervises interns, assistants, and volunteers involved in occupational/physical therapy. Maintains clinic records in accordance with professional standards. Identifies current and potential health problems, and applies a broad range of therapeutic techniques. Facilitates students generating a sense of investment in the therapeutic process. The educational specialist uses a variety of strategies or approaches to meet the needs of students. The educational specialist assesses and documents attainment of program objective(s). Uses continuous assessment of student performance to adapt therapeutic interventions. The educational specialist serves as a liaison between the school and relevant community services and/or agencies to facilitate services. Initiates communication with parents, school personnel, and community agencies when appropriate. The educational specialist seeks input from school personnel concerning functioning of school programs. The educational specialist fosters an organized and positive environment.
