ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of performance indicators for speech/language therapist. The speech/language therapist demonstrates effective time management and flexibility to allow for therapy, assessment, administrative duties, and direct consultative services with students, families, and staff. The educational specialist assists in planning, developing, implementing, and/or following up on interventions, programs, and/or services to students. He/She maintains accurate, complete, and timely records as required by law, district policy, and administrative directions. He/She demonstrates current, accurate, and comprehensive knowledge consistent with the profession. The educational specialist provides effective leadership of the program. The educational specialist consults with students, families, and school staff to assist in meeting needs of students. The educational specialist adheres to professional, legal, and ethical standards. The speech/language therapist assesses problems and analyzes and interprets information through observations, interviews, examinations, tests, and analysis of records to identify eligibility for services and/or make recommendations for services.
