ABSTRACT

Gaps are the differences between “where the school wants to be” and “where the school is right now.” To uncover gaps, one must review the data and dig deeper. Root causes are real reasons that “problems” or “challenges” exist. Schools must uncover the root causes of their undesirable results to alleviate the problem or to get desirable results that will last over time. One of Little River Elementary School's goals is for all students to achieve proficiency on the State Assessment Program, a criterion-referenced test. After analyzing Little River's data, the gaps, and digging deeper to discover root causes, one comes up with the idea that there are contributing causes.
