ABSTRACT

Big River High School is located in a metropolitan city on the west coast. One out of every four workers in the county is employed in manufacturing. Females tend to remain at Big River High School for all four years more than the males in each cohort. Big River High School currently has 70 students classified as migrant. Migrant students, who are identified at enrollment, have parents who are agricultural workers. Handbooks are distributed each year to both students and parents. Student assemblies are held throughout the year to highlight changes in policy and to reinforce any urgent areas of concern. Individual teacher discipline plans are posted in each classroom. Big River has a standing Discipline and Attendance Committee whose charge is to communicate with the staff at large regarding procedures and policies which need revision and implementation.
