ABSTRACT

Learning about other cultures opens a world of understanding to students, teachers, and families in a school. The visual and performing arts of all cultural groups not only are beautiful and entertaining, but also stimulate students’ creativity, curiosity, imagination, and self-expression. Using the arts to spotlight a school’s diverse cultures and talents is a way to motivate learning, develop students’ talents, and build respect for others. The featured activity shows how one school used the arts to learn about the homelands of students’ families.
