ABSTRACT

Summary

In this chapter considerable space was dedicated to looking at how numerous others define, explain, or make use of DBDM. Additional Resources, at the end of this chapter, provides the website addresses recommended for further study into DBDM. Our own definition of DBDM has been presented as well as models that offer specific examples of its use. We have very briefly presented Dr. Victoria Bernhardt’s concept of “Multiple Measures of Data” as a means of clarifying the four types of data that must be used in combination in any DBDM process. Considerable space has been taken in exploring the potential and use of perceptive data using as an example the results from one survey process in which surveys from Education for the Future (EFF) were used. The importance of developing a robust data infrastructure was identified and it was pointed out that successful DBDM processes enable a smooth transition to Dynamic Planning, which is the subject of Chapter 6. It is hoped that this chapter has provided the groundwork for and encourages readers to identify how DBDM can be used within their own system.
