ABSTRACT

This chapter describes about transforming the practices of the leader in ways that are congruent with the vision of the organization. It provides tools that principals can use to alter daily work habits, distribute leadership, and become more effective. The purpose of the Leadership Transformation Plan is to help principals develop strategies that, over time, will cause significant shifts in their daily leadership practices by reducing time in areas that are non-essential to effective leadership, and increasing time in those areas that are essential. Principals will have different perspectives on what will or will not work in their campus setting. Politics, culture, and varying degrees of autonomy each have an influence on the strategies that will work. Effective principals help others grow professionally through the reassignment of work that becomes challenging and rewarding for the individual. Guidance counselors are some of the most important people in helping a school remain focused on improved learning for every child.
