Mastery-Based Differentiated Formative Assessments

This chapter provides leveled examples of embedding formative assessments into a specific differentiated instructional strategy called mastery-based learning. According to Silver, Strong, and Perini (2007), mastery-based instructional strategies focus primarily on addressing students’ ability to remember and summarize. Clarity, sequencing, and quick feedback motivate these students to learn.
