ABSTRACT

The planning process is the most important step. This is not to say the processes that follow should be discounted. However, the approach and first steps of the planning stage are critical for establishing a strong sense of purpose and collaboration among the participants. A negative approach can stop any progress before it gets started. If the learning community has been well established as discussed in the preceding chapter, collaboration will come more easily. In fact, if there are opportunities for faculty and staff to share and discuss the activities, goals, and successes, collaboration will take place regularly without effort. This is a sign of a strong professional learning community. You are well on your way to being successful.
