ABSTRACT

The Longfellow quote may mean closes are more important than leads or that they are harder to write, or both, but it is a moot point for beginning writers. After a trip to the station of leads and closes, students approach their final drafts with confidence. Confidence as writers goes a long way toward accelerating ongoing improvements in student writing. Student self-assessment: For the Writing Leads strategy, students assess the degree to which they met your stated expectation for their Writing Leads strategy. Writing leads is best combined with another revision strategy to revise a complete draft. The possible combinations include the revision strategies such as those covered in A Writing Cycle for Writer's Workshop. We teacher's received the recommendation from a coaches' workshop in writing that convinced us of their importance. Members of the leadership team: At faculty meetings and leadership meetings, we have heard that students should work harder at learning than their teachers do at teaching.
