ABSTRACT

When we identify our learning objective, we first ask ourselves the question, “What should students know and be able to do?” We can do that by identifying key standards or key learning goals. You might even hear this referred to as benchmark goals that are itemized as report card descriptors. Whatever the terminology, we must decide what the ultimate goal for student learning is and, when we are done teaching, what evidence will we have that will demonstrate that students have learned the intended objective.
