ABSTRACT

The policy questions which are being debated inside the cinema industry or have been raised by outsiders reporting on the trade are literally innumerable. This is perhaps what one might expect, bearing in mind that this is an industry which has been highly legislated for, which is subject to tightly organized trade associations, which incorporates the often conflicting interests of a few giants and a multiplicity of ‘small’ men and, last but not least, which is undergoing a staggering contraction.
