ABSTRACT
The audiences’ attitude to the animated pictures was of amazement at the remarkable new scientific marvel. Having seen it, however, many felt no particular desire to see it again, unless something else as important as the procession came along. By the end of the century some music halls had stopped showing films; and those who retained them must have been in two minds about doing so.
