ABSTRACT

Throughout this book, one central theme is dominant — focusing on the individual as the developing leader. This central theme rests on the premise that teachers view their students as individuals that are diverse in personalities and development. In fact, effective teachers learn, teach and assess their students as unique learners that require scaffolding, teaching and guidance that are constructive and nurturing. More importantly, expert teachers identify their students’ needs to learn in authentic and innovative ways, and address those needs in their classrooms through tapping into their own learning experience and everyday examples (Loughran, 2010).
