ABSTRACT

For music educators the purchase of music technology equipment is usually a love or hate affair. Some relish the task and enjoy delving into the details of the latest shiny thing. Others see the process as a chore or feel overwhelmed by the jargon and just want something that works. Either way, choosing music technologies is an important consideration for music educators, whose equipment budgets never seem adequate and who have to live with the implications of their decisions for years to come. As well as making plans for purchases, they have to make decisions about the physical location of equipment, the number of devices, required additional infrastructure, and ongoing resource management. These issues are explored in this chapter.
